The Great Deluge Continues… No End In Sight.

Alan Wake is getting some pretty stunning reviews. I just can’t keep up, with either time or money, with all of these fantastic games. I JUST got Super Street Fighter 4 and Splinter Cell. Now Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption want me. Crackdown 2 is right around the corner… Continue reading »

Vanquish – Don’t count the Japanese out yet…

Kotaku has a write-up on the new game from Bayonetta studio Platinum Games which goes by the name of Vanquish.  Seeing as Bayonetta is the only Japanese game to come out in a long time that I liked and wasn’t from Capcom I actually clicked on the article (the opposite of what I did when I saw Joystiq had a review of Monster Hunter 3).  This game looks fucking superb!  And if it’s as fun as Boyonetta was I’ll be there day one.  Naked.

Don’t ask.

The Return of Press Buttons … 2/3/10!!

Instead of the reality of apologizing for an unannounced hiatus.

Let me just return like Batman (hit brooding Dark Knight theme).

In a city devoid of heroes … a world without justice … a world …

Where Tekken 6 is released in standard definition with some of the poorest art in recent memory and worse graphics than Tekken Tag Tournament on the PS2. Continue reading »

Press Buttons 10/30/09!!

While playing Uncharted 2 someone noted:

“Wow Batman couldn’t do all this!!!”

I quickly corrected him.

“Batman could do all this but knows how to avoid this.”

But it did get me thinking. Continue reading »

The Great Deluge Continues!

But I was thinking of something.

A hypothesis.

Is this the other shoe dropping from the grand 1990’s imbalance?

You remember…  When nothing average would come out? Most games were from Japan and were extremely hit or miss?  You simply sat and played the crap out what we got until we were handed another delicious morsel.

However, the problem was not that average games weren’t coming out.  They weren’t coming out in America. The safe bet was that 8 out of 10 games were made by  Japanese and were about Japanese things that a typical American gamer didn’t care about at the time.

However, now the opposite is true. Continue reading »

A Look Back…

If Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood would wrangle it’s V-Sync issue it’d be the the best looking nature  on consoles.  As it stands now it comes in a close second behind the original Uncharted.  The whole game looks like a old cigarette advertisement… and that’s a fantastic thing.

One issue does arise though. Continue reading »

Uncharted 2 Review!!

I once said that I knew Naughty Dog better than most people.

And by virtue of our intimate relationship I was able to comfortably say that Naughty Dog was not going to sit idly by and let Gears of War 2 be the best action game ever made.

Wasn’t going to sit idly by and let Killzone 2 be the best looking game ever made.

And now I’d like to calmly say to everyone.

Not only has Naughty Dog succeeded on all fronts, but they have (in typical Naughty Dog fashion)  gone well overboard and in the process created what is, in my estimation, the greatest game ever made. Continue reading »

MAGfest

MAGFest is a video and computer gaming festival run by fans, for fans. It’s similar to most fan-based (anime, scifi, etc) conventions, but aims to be more of a laid-back video game party atmosphere. No crowded show floors here, but rather lots of fan art, film and music, and room to relax. Special guests fit right in and socialize with the rest of the crowd. Game movies and cartoons are shown weekend-long. Continue reading »
