There is something to be said for when something is achieved correctly.

But there’s a reasonable explanation.
Red Dead Redemption is a difficult game to review.
Its structurally flawed in so many ways that I can’t recommend it to everyone.
But its one of the most emotionally relevant games I’ve played in this generation.
But my God can it get boring.
But my God is it beautiful.

Man, look at that screenshot!

Its difficult to describe Split/Second without using wit.
To say its Michael Bay’s remake of Ridge Racer.
Or to say that its almost like playing a Saturday Night Live parody of an actual racing game.
It’s difficult because almost everything that comes to mind is true.

I am sitting here trying to make sense of this game.
So much so that I’ve zipped to the review despite promise of a slow drip.
Because Alan Wake is the first true test of gameplay over graphics I’ve encountered in years.

The great deluge is ending.
I am certain that for some of you this is similar to the end of an apocalypse movie where the main character finds civilization and breaks down and cries for lack of another method of communication.
And I wouldn’t blame you for a moment.

I think the gaming press at large may have the wrong impression of Bulletstorm. Does it look awesome? Yes. Am I now, after seeing this write-up, anticipating the fuck out of this game? Yes. Is it as revolutionary as everyone seems to be saying? Well… no.
